I will be going on my first cruise on The Conquest late Feb. of 2008. Can anybody tell me if you are able to bring an OPEN bottle of wine onboard? I'd appreciate any further helpful hints for first time cruising

Rutledge0116, Welcome to Cruise-Chat!

I personally have never heard of bringing an open bottle of wine onboard. I am thinking it would raise some security concerns about the content of the open bottle.

Why an open bottle?

Hopefully someone else has done this and know for sure.

I wouldn't be surprised if they gave it a smell check at the least.

Good luck,

Dwayne

If it's packed in the carry on I don't think they would even notice it had been opened. I have never had a bottle looked at. I always wrap them in a paper bag and put them in a Ziplock bag and they have never said anything about it.

Larry is probably right but I would tend to lean toward the more cautious side. Is it really worth the risk to potentially lose a valuable part of your memories? Buy a great bottle on board and let your open bottle age for another year.

why don't you just buy a new bottle of the same wine? most likely, that year-old, opened bottle has gone bad w/ TCA...

OR for added memories, simply drink the rest of the opened bottle before you board the ship!

That would be an added memory for sure!

The wine would not be very good to drink after it has been opened for a length of time.
