Hi again.
I am losing my mind because I can't remember some stuff from our last cruise.
Anyway, could someone tell me if the ships (in particular the Elation) offer Karaoke every night or just some nights?
Thanks.

I should change my name on here to "karaoke queen". I am absolutely addicted.

Karaoke will probably be 8:30pm (or 9PM) until 11:30pm (or midnight). It generally runs 3 hours every night. And on 7 day cruises, it will be in the afternoon on the last day because at night there is the Legends show that the karaoke people participate in.

A few tips:

The key selector on the Fantasy is broken. So if you are pitch dependent (like me)you will be limited to the songs you can sing. Any song up or down 1 did ok, but past that was "iffy".

You can use your own cdgs. I would recommend that you take them with you if you have them, because the "selection" on the ships can be limited. And those songs that are sung a lot can be damaged from over use. The karaoke hosts do an amazing job of caring for your cdgs. I do not hesitate to even take my custom ones.

Remember that the karaoke hosts appreciate being "appreciated". They do not have an easy job. I always find out what they drink and buy them some drinks during the course of the cruise.

Have a great cruise and happy singing!!!

I am in the process of converting the songs on my CDG's. I bought some software that will rip them, alter the song to the key I sing it in and burn it to a blank CD.

This way I don't have to worry about the pitch control working AND I don't have to carry a huge book of CDGs ... just the 2 that I have all my songs on (perfectly pitched). yea

Same here LHP

when I get new disc's the first thing I do is rip them to my hard drive. then I burn My own custom CD+G's.
I have over 5000 songs on my hard drive. it also makes it easy to replce a disc if it gets scratched or broken.
I did a show in Las Vegas last april and did my whole show from my laptop. I just rented a PA system when I got there hooked up my laptop and used it as my monitor. the show went real well.

Last week I bought 2 disc's with 18 songs a piece to the Karaoke on the SENSATION.
me and the host were the only ones singing for the first hour then the rotation went up to about 30 singers.
It was a great time.

I am new to all this "ripping" stuff. I do love the fact that once I have "ripped" it, I use Karaoke Sound Tools to alter the key exactly where I need it.

But I hate the word "ripped".

Have you ever had a problem with Carnival's system accepting your cdgs? I have been warned that some old JVC karaoke players can be a pain.

I use a Peavey Escort that really does well for its small size. The last gig I did with it was an outdoor wedding at our Town Square.

I am in the process of trying to talk myself into a laptop. I would LOVE a set up like you have. (envy, envy)

I have also read of folks that have all their songs on MP-3 but I am not that smart...

I wouldnt mind doing the Karaoke for 3 months on A ship.
have to keep mentioning something about cruiseing or this thread will get deleted

I do a character show and rarely Host a karaoke show. I just sing all night at my show's.

I use
a BOSE L1 Personal Amplification system (google it)
a Mackie CFX12 Mixer
Nady Wirless mic and a SHURE BETA 58A mic
and an RSQ single tray Machine.

only takes me three trips to and from the truck with the BOSE System to get all my gear in. with my Peavey system it took 8 trips carrying speakers and stands and all that. the Peavey system is now my practice system set up in my bedroom. Peavey x600G with PR12 speakers and an RSQ E500N single tray player.

If anyone from Carnival is reading this ...if you hire me you will get two job's out of me..
I can sing for your show and do the Karaoke

LHP ......I'll let you know what ship I get Hired on....lol

Any News On how the Karaoke is On Carnivals LIBERTY? Im booked on that for Oct 13th.

MrO, what program do you use? I have about 120 CDG's and would like to rip them, but I did not know there is a program out there that would do that and bring the on screen lyrics across also. I ripped them to my hard drive but the graphics dont show up???
