....you are greeted by the cruise director and the person in charge of thier loyalty program and usually other miscellaneous staff. Once you find a table, you are treated to free cocktails and appetizers that are delivered by an attentive staff. These days the drinks are usually pre-poured and served with a limited menu. On some ships, if you order something different than what is being offered, you will have to pay for it.

There is dance music playing and usually some folks dancing. After a few minutes, the person in charge of the cruise line's loyalty party gets up and thanks everyone for being there, followed by the cruise director and then the Captain. The Captain will usually talk about future events for the cruise line.

Finally comes the big moment where the Captain and the Loyalty person recognizes the person/couple that have the most cruises on the particular line. They give them a bottle of champagne and get their picture taken with the Captain and loyalty person.

Then its one last drink and off to dinner. Enjoy!

Some lines, like MSC, has a departing party as well. Same as the onboard welcome party and the Captains party.
