"Inaugural" Sailings Impacted by Ida

Tropical Storm Ida, which will probably be a depression by the time it hits the U.S., has nevertheless given Carnival and it's passengers a headache. The inaugural 6-night cruise of the Fantasy from Mobile will be delayed and become a 5-night cruise with the Progreso stop cancelled. The inaugural 4-night cruise of the Triumph from New Orleans is now a 3-night cruise to nowhere.

Mobile passengers will get a refund for the one day lost. New Orleans guests will get 50% back. All guests will have the option to cancel for a 100% refund.

Still, this means those who are arriving a day early will have to hope they can get another night's lodging along with the other collateral costs.

This is really late in the season even for a depression. She seemed to form out of nowhere. I pray there is not a lot of flooding or anymore damage. They still haven't recovered from Katrina.

I'm still catching up. However, I heard the Legend was doing some rocking and rolling (to say the least) on the cruise out of Tampa.

Yes, My niece and husband and four other friends sailed last week. She said it was pretty rough. They made all the ports but it rained most of the time. 50MPH winds and 20 ft waves.

I'm heading out on the Dream on Friday the 13th from NYC on her 3 days to nowhere first cruise out of NYC. I am expecting to run into the remnants of Ida and rain! Given that she is a 1000 ft. ship I'm expecting a unique ride! Green Apples and Ginger Pills will be in my bag!!

While I am not a superstitious person -I just wish it wasn't on Friday the 13th!!

Make the best of it Billy, I know you will. Ida might not impact you that much. It was really just rain here and maybe 25 mph winds.

Billy, I think (and hope) Ida will be only a remnant by then. It has rained all day here. Ida needs to make way for the Dream!
