Handheld steamers on Carnival?

Hi, cruisers! Does anyone know if hand held travel steamers are allowed onboard? I searched for the answer in archives but could not find a difinitive answer.

I would think technically not but they would most likely not say anything. The worst they would do is ask you not to use it.

They say that blow dryers are not allowed but everyone brings them.

Thanks, Larry. No blowdryers?! I did not know that. Do you think they forbid these appliances because of the outlets in the cabin or is it strickly a fire concern?

Hi gang...Blow dryers are allowed. If you forget yours you can borrow one of theirs, I've done it. My understanding is that they don't like flat irons but they have never confiscated mine.I've tried to understand the difference between allowed electric hair curlers and straighters and a regular flat iron! They all are electric and get very hot. Didikay

If cruise lines didn't allow hair dryers, there would be some interesting hair do's on formal nights. True, they do not like irons, they don't seem to mind steamers. If there are rules against this, I have yet to see them enforced. Although, I wouldn't advise leaving one of these items plugged in while you are away from your stateroom.

Yes, no flat irons is their only rule, I believe.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I plan on taking my little steamer because I hear that the laundry rooms can get pretty crowded.

That brings me to another question. I am not and have never been great at packing. Does anyone have tips? Especially how to pack without extreme wrinkling of clothes?

I know it sounds weird, but I have found that by rolling my clothes up they don't wrinkle near as much as flat folding. This also allows for the packing of more items in one suitcase.

drlivingston, do you apply that technique to your evening dress as well if applicable? Thanks for the info. I never thought about doing that.

I'm not sure where I saw that hair dryers were not allowed, I looked on Carnival's site and saw nothing. Anyway most of the cabins have hair dryers, not very good ones though.
