Just posted to the Carnival Site (click under customer service, weather updates):
(Sorry all you 25 SEP Galveston cruisers http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_frown.gif )
I guess if you are a Conquest cruiser this week, you get a 2-3-??? day cruise to nowhere tacked on to the end of your cruise. Except for worrying about your parked vehicle, this is a kinda-sorta bonus. If you are flying, you just got a 2-3 day cruise extension for free! ... Assuming you wanted the extension and didn't HAVE to get back to work!)
Tropical Weather Update
September 22, 2005 - 2:30 PM
We are closely monitoring the progress of Hurricane Rita. At Carnival, the safety and comfort of our guests and crew are our number one priority. We will navigate all of our ships at a safe distance from the storm at all times.
We have made the following storm-related itinerary changes:
The Carnival Victory September 18, 2005 departure from Miami will operate a Western Caribbean cruise to Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios (originally scheduled to the Eastern Caribbean).
The Fascination September 19, 2005 departure from Miami will visit Freeport and Nassau (originally scheduled to visit Key West and Cozumel).
The Celebration September 19, 2005 departure from Jacksonville will visit Freeport (replaces Key West) and Nassau.
GALVESTON ARRIVAL / DEPARTURES – SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
We are currently evaluating our plans for Galveston this weekend. We do not expect to make a decision on the required itinerary changes until Friday afternoon. However, the Elation cruise on Saturday, September 24 and the Carnival Conquest cruise on Sunday, September 25 will not depart Galveston before Monday, September 26.
In addition, the Elation September 19 cruise and the Carnival Conquest September 18 cruise will not arrive back into Galveston until Monday, September 26 at the earliest. Please check back here periodically and we will provide an update as new information becomes available.
