Anyone been on this eastern Caribbean cruise? Ports in St. Thomas, Barbados, Dominica, and Aruba. How is Destiny in comparison to Conquest? Any input will be appreciated, considering this for second cruise with hubby.

My family and me did that cruise in June, 2004. I loved it! As a matter of fact, out of 16 cruises, it's my favorite. 4 GREAT stops, beautiful ship, great service, food, etc.. You'll have a wonderful time! Take loads of pics!!

We are booked on the Destiny on 9/3. We have done quite a bit of research on the Destiny, and she is due to be, or has recently been refurbished. We chose this one in Sept. due to the hurricane season that seemed to be hammering the state of Florida. There are similar cruises out of Miami that go to the Southern Carrib., and the flights are much cheaper, but then you may deal with the hurricane situation. They, (the hurricanes) (knock on wood) haven't seemed to be hitting the Southern Caribb as much as they have the Western and the state of Florida. Plus, you get 5 ports which is nice. When are you going?
This was my thinking exactly, about the hurricanes and the # of ports. We aren't booked as of yet, but I'm looking at the same Sept. 3rd date ! We're still checking out different options, but as for myself, I want this cruise really bad. It would be our second as we went on the Conquest same time last year to Western Caribbean and loved it.It's just myself and husband (48 & 51) from dallas, Texas. Got my fingers crossed !
Let me know what you dedcide. We are sailing with my wife, my 2 sisters, their husbands, and 2 young adults. (8 total) We are very excited about the cruise, but those flights to San Juan!!! Ouch!!! Right now the flights from St Louis, MO are roughly $1100 for 2 people. Our back up cruise is the Elation from Miami. Its the same price as the Destiny (2 years newer ship, but smaller than the Destiny) , goes to St Thomas, Half Moon Cay, Turks and Cacos, and Nassau. The best part is that flights to Miami are half the price as San Juan, but then your flying into the "hurricane zone". (atleast it was in 2005)Good luck!!
The destiny is fabulous. Great staff. I have never been on the conquest so i can not compare. The ports are aslo wonderful and leaving out of san juan is great. Spend an extra day if you can. We were supposed to do the valor but the itinerary changed because of the huuricane so we booked on the destiny again. It's a great choice.
The Destiny was recently refurbished. She is just slightly smaller than the Conquest. You probably won't even notice any difference.
Cruiser1962 you might want to check out and compare using Carnival's air on this one, keeping in mind that your transfers would be included with their air. Whereas; if you pay $1100 for your own air you still have the cost of transfers on top of it.
Hello Marthatom, I read your post about your possible cruise on the Destiny. I believe you said the Eastern Caribbean but it's actually the Southern Caribbear that you will be sailing to. I will be doing that cruise 9/17/06, I be it before about 3 years ago, it's the greatest. In Aruba you can rent a vehicle for about 35.00 for the day and go visit several beaches (Baby beach is very nice). As I said I will be sailing the cruise again 9/17/06, I will be sailing with about a group of 10 to 20 people. We range in age from about 30 to I guess 45( 45 will be me) I will be joined by my wife and my 5 year old, basically all married couples or engaged to be married. If you decide to push you travel date back a couple of weeks and cruise the Destiny we would be happy to have you'll join us. We will do all our excursions together and you know we are safer in groups. Aruba is very nice though and when I rented car it was just me my wife and child so you can be safe there as a couple if you'll would like to travel alone, Oh and all the shopping is within walking distance of the docked ship. Good Luck!!!!!
