I am new to cruising and will be on the Elation on July 3. I was wondering if anyone can give me advice on going to the beach in Montego Bay and Grand Cayman. Do I really need to book an excursion or is the beach easily accesible from the port?

Hi lisa-1965, Welcome to Cruise-Chat!

Sorry I can't help with Montego Bay, as I've never been there. Grand Cayman is easy, just take a taxi up to the Seven Mile Beach area. It's not very far and some of the hotels have day pass type deals that include beach chairs etc.

Also check out our Caribbean Port Section located HERE. There is a wealth of information there.

Welcome Aboard,

Dwayne

Hi lisa-1965, welcome to Cruise-Chat! Congratulations on your up-coming cruise! We didn't go to a beach in Montego Bay, we went on an excursion through the ship. A lot of people have suggested doing Sandals with a day pass there. IslandCruz is spot-on about Seven mile, easy to get to, but you can't walk. It's so beautiful there. Please do check out our Caribbean Port Chat section. You can use your "find" feature in the upper left hand corner, type in your ports and it will pull up all the posts made. You might find something that will interest you.

Please feel free to ask any questions you might have, we'll do our best to answer them. Best wishes!

Prob missed you as you have sailed I bet...We took the $15 shuttle (orange arm band) out of the terminal...stay away from the shopping places, do not get off there. Stopped at Margeritaville and we tried Drs. Cave Beach for about 5 bucks and it was nice.
