Hi everybody! A quick note to say everyone has finally met up (at dinner) and it was great. The food was excellent tonight. Steak was popular and it looked good. I had the tilapia. Of course the hallowed Carnival dessert "Chocolate Melting Cake" was ordered by most of us. It is now a standing item on the menu as a "Carnival Classic".
The Holiday is doing a slow roll as we head south for Cozumel. Sometimes it is comforting to feel the ship interact with the sea, and not be isolated from the environment. Holiday looks in great shape. Our suite has new chairs and sofa. I saw Cruise Fanatic's cabin on Upper Deck and it was also fresh - no hint this is a 20+ year old ship.
Lively action tonight all over the ship. I haven't seen the Holiday this lively in any of our previous cruises aboard her.
That is all for now. I don't plan to be here often but maybe another time or two with a quick update.
Glassy seas and sunny. The ship is quiet for 9am, probably due to many passengers doing some "steaming" late into the night with the deck party and Mexican midnight buffet. I did use the buffet for breakfast this morning and it was about half-full. Usually when I walk through at 8am it has been packed with lines everywhere.
Today looks to be a nice last day of the cruise. We've had great weather all the way. It was beautiful in Cozumel yesterday. A storm popped up on the south of the island but we were at a small beach on the north side and never saw a drop of rain. We were going to go to Cozumel but the taxi driver on the pier talked us into going to another place. Good choice. The name escapes me right now but it was great. Very well-prepared food, cold beer, and good snorkeling. A fresh water pool too. The hotel on the property is still being restored from the hurricane but they have the other stuff up and running.
We were at International Pier and from my vantage point the adjacent Puerta Maya is very close to being re-opened. Our driver said November at the latest.
More rumors...a cabin attendant told me the Fantasy was moving to Mobile next March and the Holiday indeed was headed to Europe.
Food has been good. Service excellent. The Holiday looks better than I've ever seen her in my previous cruises on her.
The group has been having a super time together. We took the group photo on the pier at Cozumel with the ship in the background. I'll post it when I get home.
Sounds like a great cruise. Thanks for keeping in touch. Looking forward to all the feedback when everyone gets back.
Really stoked to hear the rumor, hope it's true. That would mean NO would need a replacement ship, I hope. Would like to see the gulf coast region get newer nicer choices.
