Hello all, First I wish all a safe and happy cruise. I sailed out of NYC about 3 years ago and will be doing it again August 28 2007. I live in NY so transportation was not a problem for me. But what I want you to do is double check the parking cost,,,please. When I went in 2004 I was quoted a price of 10.00 per. day, 10x8= 80, okay and maybe a little tax. Upon arrival I was told (along with hundreds of others who drove to the pier)that the quote was a mistake and I believe the parking cost was either $180.00 or $260.00 for the week. It was a total mess out there, lucky for me I was able to leave my family and luggage inside the port while I drove back home ( about a 30 min. ride) and returned by subway. But those who had driven from distances had no choice but to pay. Once again please double, triple check and try to get something emailed or mailed to you stating the cost. Once again have a safe and happy cruise!

Thank you Deege24 , I will definetly check it out in advance . I read on the Port of New York site that it will be $24.00 a day and they don't take credit cards.
i also am driving into NYC in May for the Miracle cruise on the 3-11th. (from Glens Falls, thats 1 hour north of Albany) I was quoted a parking price of $24 per day or $180 for a month.(which seems weird to me) they have a website for the NYterminal. just do a search for NYC cruise ship terminals and you will find it there.(look for the Manhattan one, there is 3 different terminals) It does say they dont accept credit cards but someone on cruise critic says that is wrong, they DO !!! I'll bring cash just in case.
I also am driving to NYC for the Miracle (5/19 sailing). I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who has no idea what this will be like as far as traffic, parking, etc. I hate flying though, so whatever the cost or trouble is, it's worth it to me.
You guys going before me will have to let me know how it is!

It will be a little hard to let you know how it was when you will be boarding the boat when we are getting off. Although I have been told that it is fairly easy to find and park at the pier.
We drove down to NYC for a cruise a few years back from MA. I don't remember the traffic being an issue then, but you never know how that will go. I know we left really early and was on the ship with plenty of time to spare before we set sail.
Cortney - I hate flying too, so it is worth it.
Parking was a breeze too as I remember. It was a gated area and I believe the cost is $24 per day these days.
