Leaving on the Inspiration on 9/7/06. Are the Carnival ship's permitted to dock yet in Cozumel? Have they started to rebuild the Carnival dock?

I've asked that question a while back and at that time they were still tendering in. But I think they have got one of the piers rebuilt sice then, so it may depend on which one the ship docks at.

Hey Jane and Jim,

Someone posted a really good link a while back about the progress. I can't seem to find it. It was cozumel wilma something. It was on a thread I started and was moved somewhere else. I will keep looking, and maybe someone will see this and help us out. I am heading to Cozumel also and would not mind an update.

There is someone who posts often that actually lives on the island. Maybe he'll see this and jump in.

Thanks Dave,

That was the link I was reffering to. Go down to the bottom of page and do a search for the site only. The last update I saw was in April saying 2 would be open in October 2006, and Carnival pier, if I read it right would be 2007. I also read there was some business about Carnival owing them 57 million dollars! ?

Can't swear I read any of it right, am off today and left the reading glasses at the office. Might explain why my CCL stock is now at $39 instead of $55

No, they are still tendering you in and it is a royal pain. My advice is to get a tender ticket from carnival as soon as possible or it could take you over a hour to get off of the boat. It drops anchor in the middle of the carribbean about 3/4 mile offshore.

Well, I don't know if I'd say 3/4 mile offshore is the middle of the Caribbean.

When we anchored in June we were a couple hundred yards from shore. Of course, they don't want the ships too close to each other hence there are various anchor points. Some may be further out than others.

This whole new having to have a ticket for the tender will be new to me.

Cayman was always first in line was first off and always went smoothly.

Belize was 2 lines, one first in line for general tender and the other when called for direct from ship excursions.

This new thing of needing a ticket for tender service. How does it work?

Thanks,
IslandCruz
