Alaska June 14 - Rental Car to Anchorage? Other questions

Hey All-

Going Northbound Alaska on the Spirit (June 14th)with a large family group (20 people). We were told that it would be more economical to rent a couple of SUVs to get us from Whittier to Anchorage (airport) versus paying Carnival for the transport. I was wondering if anyone has done this cruise enough to know if this is truly a good idea or not and could offer up some opinions or suggests for this cruise.

Also, anyone ever have any luck getting a dinner table reservation for a big group like this, and how do we do it? We have tried emails, but no answers to them.

And anyone else going on this cruise with us?

It doesn't sound like you booked this as a group through a Travel Agent. If you did then they will take care of that for you. But if you didn't you should have all your records cross referenced. You should be able to get three tables of eight or 2 eights and a four in the same section.

Many years ago we were a large family reunion cruise. We had 4 tables of eight all in a row. We spent the week rotating around the tables so we could all visit with each other - it worked out great, and the waiters had no problems with it.
