Hello,
It states in the carnival info. that If you give your debit card for expenses that they put a hold on your card until the cruise is over. My husband is not going with us.Does this mean he will not be able to use his debit card while we are gone?

Sorry if this is a silly question but we leave on Monday and I want to decide if I should use my debit or credit card. I would prefer debit.
Thanks in advance!

The hold is for a specific amount of money (I use debit cards for everything). Bon Voyage - have a great cruise.

Which may exceed your debit card's daily limit. I'm not sure how much the hold would be for, but it may get rejected when they try to run the approval through and it exceeds you card's daily hold limit. You may have to tell your bank to temporarily up your daily limit or something... Might be easier to just use a credit card and then go to the pursers desk the last night of the cruise and have them put the tab on the debit card (used as a charge, not a credit) That way you know what the charge to the debit will be and the amount never goes to the credit card...

I tthink you should call and talk to someone that works at the Bank of Credit Union that you bank with. I am sure that they will be able to answer that question for you. Or if anything let them know that you are heading out on a cruise so they are aware of the charges that are to come. I work for a credit Union and it all depends on the merchant that is going to be charging you if there will be a pledge on your card. Hope this helped you alittle.

Maxie, No silly question at all. Do as Army said and call. They do put a hold or pre-authorization on cards for the amount. I am not sure but seems like 150. You can also secure your account with a cash deposit instead. They don't charge your account just reserve the funds to settle the cruise account.

Have your booking # and ask them your options.
You don't want any surprizes to mess up your Vacation. Hope this helps too, and have a Great Cruise.
