can you smoke in your cabins? We went on the Inspiration 2/06 and didn't think we could. We are now sailing on the Glory on 3/07, so we were curious of the smoking rules.

As far as I know smoking is allowed in all cabins and on all Carnival ships. Why didn't you think you could smoke on the Inspiration?

Yes, you can smoke in your cabins. Just please do not open your cabin door and allow it to come out into the hallways.

I can understand why you would think the cabins are nonsmoking. Carnival goes to great lengths to post the "designated smoking areas" (not public...not private...just all "designated smoking areas) in the Capers every day. This indicates where it is ok to smoke. You will never see the cabins or balconies listed. Also, you will never find an ashtray in the cabin or on the balcony.

Personally, I think Carnival does this to try to avoid any legal responsibility should a fire occur in a cabin from an unattended cigarette. I don't think it would work, but Carnival's legal position would be that they are not responsible because the "cabin" was not listed as a designated smoking area.

Have a great cruise!!!

I guess I just assumed there was no smoking due to most hotels, etc. you can't smoke in the rooms.

What is the smoking situation like on the decks around the pool area and other public areas such as that? I'd love to relax with a smoke while i take a sip of my umbrella'd drink and relax my worried mind

We smoked on Lido deck on 1 side other side there was no smoking - so yes we had our smokes with our umbrella drinks. It wasn't hard not to smoke on the ship.

I also wanted to mention that Carnival is "trying" a nonsmoking casino on the Paradise.

I don't know for how long, if it is being enforced or any particulars...I have just been reading threads from people who just got off the ship. So if you smoke and gamble and are sailing on the Paradise, know this "may" (again I say MAY) be restricted.
