Miami-Cost of TPT -Airport to Dock

This is our first cruise and are flying into Miami[from Toronto}. We have been advised by our travel agent that it costs $70/per person return to travel to the departure dock. Is this a reasonable cost or is there an alternative. Thanks

I'm not sure whether you're talking about the Port of Miami or Port Everglades, which is near Fort Lauderdale. What port are you leaving from? If it's the port of Miami, then it's only about a $25 cab ride per cab from Miami Airport to Port of Miami.

Not sure what the cost is from Miami to Port Everglades.

Yes its only about $25 from the airport tot he port of Miami in a taxi and that is PER TAXI not per person. So if you have four people you are only going to need $25 plus tips.

The $70 per person is for cruise line bus transportation. Most everyone who does any research takes the taxi route. Its only about a 20 minute trip.

I'd go with the taxi as I have been down the Bus Transfer route a few times.

Carnival's rate to go from Miami airport to the Port of Miami is $16 one way or $32 roundtrip per person Here. So with two people when you add gratuity for the taxi driver you will be about the same. I would take the taxi because it will be quicker.

We always take the taxi in Miami.. When we fly in though(which is ALWAYS THE DAY BEFORE to be safe) we find a hotel that offers free shuttle to the port. So the only taxi we pay for is when we get back. Now if we were flying into foet lauderdale and leaving out of port of miami we would get a bus transfer. Please fly down a day before your cruise just in case of something going wrong.. To many horror stories out there that miss the ship when flying down the day of the cruise..

I'm sorry. Jan is correct. I was thinking of the rates for cruise transport to Port Canaveral. Either way the taxi still comes out less expensive if you are more than one person AND its faster since you don't have to wait for the bus to "fill up" before they go.

Hi funcruisers, welcome to Cruise-Chat! Congratulations on your up-coming cruise! You're going to have a wonderful time. I loved the Valor. We sailed on her in May. She's a great ship and we had a fantastic crew! If Alan is still in the dining room, he's a fantastic waiter. We had the anytime dining and he took great care of us! Not sure if you're on the same itinerary, but if you go to Belize and Roatan, the snorkeling in both ports is great!

I agree with tim c, if at all possible, please come down a day early. It makes your cruise more enjoyable when you're relaxed getting on board. It also allows time in case something goes wrong. Especially your luggage going somewhere without you.
