Hey Nita and all !

Thanks a ton! Yes, I had a wonderful time, it just went too fast. Have not posted a review yet, and I took a film camera and Walgreens was supposed to put my pics on a cd but did not work so they are fixing it.

The Elation really exceeded my expectations, and the crew I will have to say was the most friendliest of any of my cruises. From every department, bar service, restaurant, dining room, info desk, embarkation staff, and especially casino staff! The ship is in really good condition.

We could not find the exit for Marriott in Daytona and kept driving and ended up at Super 8 in Titusville the day before. Which put us really close the next morning. We got there at 10:00 but was told we could not park because the ship was late. They let us get in line after dropping of the lugguge to park, we were the second car. They were still calling colors after 11 for debarkation! And we had to wait for the lot to get cleared some.

Then was told we had to use the free valet because we were leaving from terminal 5 and Elation would be returning to terminal 10. They kept our car keys and said they would move our car over for us. That was weird it being that late and that happening. But was told was Elation's first run that was comming back that day from Port Canaveral.

Well they finally got the returning passengers off and let us in the security area. Had to take my belt off is all, and the 4 cans of beer left over from the motel went thru in my backpack without a hitch! When we got up to check in area was taken to VIP check-in for my first time! I was impressed with getting to sit at a desk to check in and all the attention given. Then we were walked to a special section in the front where we could sit. There was only about 15 people in that area. They lady constantly informed and updated us as to when she could escort us on. I was the third person to board! I was pretty appreciative, and did not expect that kind of treatment.

For the first time they had all the cabin hallways closed and was told the cabins were not ready it was after 12. But I could understand as people were still getting off at 11:30. Went up for lunch and was weird seeing the buffet before it was even touched! The restaurant staff was on their normal schedule but embarkation and housekeeping was behind because of the late debarkation. We got in the cabin a little after 1.

Will write more later..

The cabin E-71 is right behind the Info desk on Empress deck. It was not supposed to be a handicap cabin but it was. The bathroom was bigger than normal and a wider area walkway. It was clean and decorated Bon Voyage courtesy of the casino hostess Dana. I had emailed her to say hi. Carnival had also left a fruit/nut/cheese basket. Not bad. The cabin was 2nd from atrium and was really convenient.

Steward Eric, was really nice, asked if we needed anything special etc. It was pretty funny as I cruised with my friend Tim this year and he asked if the beds were alright seperate. We started out with a laugh, and thanked him but explained it was not that kind of friendship I told him I had a small igloo cooler I keep some beer in, if he could keep it with ice. No problem.

Went to casino to meet Dana the hostess and thank her for the Bon Voyage. She was so nice and showed me all the new machines, and that they had the penny slots now to win a BMW. She offered to give us Blackjack lessons. She got our Ocean Players points straight and introduced some of the other staff to us, Theodore and Robert. They looked after us, and Dana sent us drinks twice. No big wins or losses, but had fun, and the last night she brought a beach bag with hats, t-shirts, key chains, and neck wallet things and thanked us for playing! The casino was so much smaller than Glory, but we had fun.

Key West, we docked at the base as was hoping not for. But they had the conch trains going pretty quickly. We met with our friends at the lido bar to wait for the trains to get a little more clear, and next thing I know there is a strong bloody mary sitting in front of me and Edward the bartender laughing. I told him I needed tabasco and 2 celery to cut that. My friends were laughing as they new he put 2 shots in it..and I don't drink liqour as a rule, and never at 11am. I went to pay him for it, and he said I was good and welcome back.

I have never seen Key West that crowded, there were 2 ships in port plus Fantasy Fest winding down. Walked to and thru the cemetary, it was fascinating. Cut down to upper end of Duval. We shopped and bar hopped our way down to train station. Had a blast! Tim's Kino sandals came apart he had bought 5 years earlier on Key West, we went to the store and they glued it back for him. It was funny they came apart within a few blocks of the store. They definetly stand behind their handmade sandals! The Subway is now a beachwear store, and the Burger King is a Ron Jon's. They do now have a Walgreens and a Denny's on Duval.

will write more later..

We tendered at Cozumel as expected. And it went smoothly. I was pretty shocked that the pier was entirely gone. Had to have been some major waves to tear up a concrete pier like that. I could not see any work being done at all on it.
I had gotten a sore throat the second day and decided to skip the snorkeling. They have really raised the taxi fares since my last visit. Went downtown to the square for some shopping between the showers.

Downtown looked like it did before, the streets were really crowded as we counted 7 ships in port. Met our friends at Hard Rock for a Corona and fresh squeezed lime juice. The prices on the streets were much higher than they use to be for T-shirts, rugs, etc. Had a good time, and conquered my fear of big birds by letting a Parrot stand on my shoulder and take a sunflower seed out of my mouth! I hope I did not get bird flu!

The time changes were so screwy this time, no one knew what time it was. We had the fallback for EST the first night. Well they decided to change the time on the ship for Cozumel CST. I have cruised to Cozumel several times and they have never done that. They had always went out of their way to say to stay on ships time EST!

The Halloween costume finale ended up being at 12AM instead of 11. The bartender on lido said they had changed the time, but his computer terminal had EST on it. He could not explain it. The Capers that day said to change the time again. It was nuts. Went to casino after the costume contest and they were closing as was not busy and they said was 2AM, went to Disco it was busy and they said it was 1AM! All I can figure is since they just recently moved the Elation, maybe they don't have their act straightened out about the time. I leave my watch on EST like I have always been told to do on previous cruises. So we cheated ourselves an hour on Cozumel.

The Halloween costumes were hilarious, and I was surprised at how many people dressed up and all the effort they put into it. It was really fun.

Dining room service was really fast and accurate. The food was great. I had late sitting and only slight dissapointment was the Lobster must have had late sitting too, meaning you could tell it had been in water a long time.

I left my S&S card twice in slots, and had to have a new one made. It was pretty funny after, but I was panicking for a few moments. It actually worked to my advantage because it sat in one of the machines awhile and racked up a bunch of points. They were super at the desk, and laughed at me the second time, they changed my folio # again and made sure no one had bought any drinks on me.

This was one of my most fun cruises, sore throat and all. Best staff that I can recall, having past cruise friends with us, It just made for alot of fun. Just went too fast.

I did my comment card with sincere praise.

OK, to make up for only a 5 day this year I have my eyes set on the Liberty 8 day out of Ft. Lauderdale next year
