We are going to do a cruise to the eastern carribean, but are unsure about the date, we can either go the beginning of Nov or beginning of Dec. I don't want it to be too cool (never too warm for me) but I don't want to chance bad weather (possibility of hurricane/rain in Nov??) either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I would rather cruise the begining of November.
The begining of December starts to cool down quite a bit. I have cruised the begining of Dec. and at night most people wear jackets. I live in Southwest Florida and there is a big change here.
The hurricane season ends November 30th. It might be a little cooler at night in Dec. in Miami, but it should be hot at your ports of call. We're doing the Western Caribbean on Dec. 9th.
Plus it splits the Holidays up for you. You got your Halloween then your cruise, get ready for T-Day, and the Christmas. Just me, but I could not get ready and do a cruise between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
There isn't much of a difference in pricing between November and December, except for the Thanksgiving week cruises.
The cruise market is usually soft between Thanksgiving and Christmas and bargains can be numerous and the ships less than full.
My Apologies, Dave is right. Not that much of a price difference between the first part of each month. I was thinking the closer you got in to winter the higher the price. I am going to check into this time frame for next year. If someone has kids, neices and nephews Halloween is a Holiday for them.
We've done it both ways. Last year we cruised Dec 4th and when we got home we were hit with the reality of Christmas. Due to cruise preparation we had done NOTHING about Christmas before we left-BIG MISTAKE!! If you are a super organized person (like I used to be) and can get ready for Christmas whilst packing for a cruise then go for it but it was a disaster for us. This year we are cruising Nov 12th for my birthday. I have found no difference in temperatures in the Carribean from one month to the next. In 2002 I did an Eastern the first week of Nov and it was bloody well hot enough for me! I think this decision should be more about what is convenient for YOU. Happy Cruising!!

got rum punch?
Hi 2Roses,
I'm doing a cruise on December 9th this year. We wouldn't normally cruise in December, but, the price made it a no brainer. We are using the cruise as a major Christmas present for our Grandkids. I suppose we should probably but the tree up before we go, do ya think?
SonnyV-
Definitely get the tree up and any decorating that you intend to do. All I got done after we got back was the obligatory cooking and getting the packages in the mail to the Grandkids (and that was no mean feat). I just really dropped the ball all the way around!! So, my advice is get as much done as far ahead as possible. How great it is that you are giving the grandkidos a cruise! Wanta adopt us?
