They bring around pre-made drinks.. pretty much what Dave called off. They also bring wine. I have never tried to "order" a drink, but when the waiter did not have any martini's left I asked him to come back when he had some and it was pretty quick. The snacks (because I can't spell hourdurves??) consist of little meatballs, chicken wings, crab cakes.. that kind of thing.
And I didn't know that they didn't do the repeat cruiser parties on 3&4 day cruises.. Thanks Fanatic for that information.. not that it would make or break my decision to go on a 3 or 4 day cruise, but its good to know what to expect.

Another good reason to not do 3 or 4 day cruises! We have done exactly one 4 day cruise - and that was in 1993 on the old Song Of America. BTW, they did do a repeaters party
that one! But that isn't Carnival!
Dave,
If someone offered me a free 3 or 4 day cruise, but I wouldn't get a repeater party; I couldn't turn it down.! I bet you'd go on a free 4day Holiday.

We used to never go on anything less than a 7 day cruise...then we tried a few 5 days and liked it, but swore we would never go on a 3 or 4 day cruise. Then circumstances arose where we were going to be in New Orleans anyway for a holiday and the only thing sailing at that specific time was a 4 day. You guessed it...we have been on 3 (going on the 4th next month) and it is a very nice way to spend a long weekend.
(I still don't think I would ever be interested in a 3 day...you have to draw the line somewhere.)
Okay people, we are not talking about "free" 3 or 4 day cruises! Of course I'd take one of those if I happened to be close to the port! Even if they didn't include the repeaters party!
CruiseDad, you bring up an excellent point. We've been to many repeaters parties on other cruise lines, and have found that they are not as good as they used to be. But this past summer on Carnival Victory, we thought the party was great. It was only our second time on Carnival, so therefore our first Carnival repeaters party, so I suppose we don't have a basis for comparison. But it was the best repeaters party we've been to in years. There was fabulous entertainment and the party lasted for a pretty long time, too.
We had a bit of an issue when we went in our Victory cruise. It was my 4th trip with Carnival, and the second for my wife.
Our trip on the Fascination was her 1st Carnival Trip, this was our honeymoon and we booked using her maiden name.
When we checked in for the Victroy, my wife didn't get a gold card because this trip was now using her married name.
One little trip to the purser's desk solved that problem, she did get her gold card and that enabled her to go to the reception.
On the pride a couple of weeks ago we had a repeaters party and the captain was there to present a free cruise to a lucky person that had their name drawn. When you came in they gave you a ticket for the drawing. They showed a special movie of how Carnival started and had all free drinks like the Captains cocktail party. I think it nice they acknowledged the ones who keep coming back. This was our 5th on Carnival...7 all together.

Wow! A free cruise!
Now that's a party worth attending.
Princess use to do that many years ago; but lately it's a couple bottles of champagne and a "commemorative plate" to the most-traveled passenger.
I hope this is the start of a new trend.
