We will be heading for our 5th cruise with Carnival and every time the Party for returning guests gets better and better. Free drinks, and appetisers were always there but last time on the Glory we also had a show by the Glory Dancers and the Ship's band. Was that just something on the Glory or are all ships doing bigger parties for returning guests. What are other ships doing?
CruiseDad, The Pride had a huge cocktail/captain's party on the second evening (happened to be formal night). It was in the Taj Mahal. It was grand. Hor devoures, drinks flowed, champagne. Beautiful event. Added bonus... all free!
We had it on the Legend on one of the Formal nights also.It gets better every year, we have been to 3 so far and everyone improves.Carnival is getting much better than it used to be. Keep up the good work Carnival!
Does this party occur on all ships (particularly the Spirit)? Is it ONLY for returning guests and how do they know you are indeed a returning customer?
On all ships they have both a Captain's welcome aboard reception and a repeat passenger party. The cruise lines keep extensive records and know (for the most part) who is a repeat customer - and invitations will arrive at your cabin for the repeater's party. If you have cruised with Carnival before you will have a past passenger ID number.
And yes, the Spirit has a past guest party. They held it in the main theater. But we didn't get a show (although maybe that has changed since june?) The captain also came to the past guest party, so we got to meet him twice.
If you do not get a "gold" sign and sail card when you check in AND you are a past guest, then you should make sure the Pursers desk is notified. Sometimes they miss people. Also, you are allowed to bring a guest even if they are not a past guest (for instance, we brought my mom to the party even though it was her first cruise)

I had herd that you can order what ever drink you want in the past guest party. Is that true because when we were on the Destiny we had to drinkt there wiskey sours and such
My understanding is that you can order a standard drink made with the speed rail booze - whiskey sour, martini, etc., but not something using call brands.....in other words no Jack Daniels, Chivas Regal, Bombay Sapphire, etc.

Another good reason to not do 3 or 4 day cruises! We have done exactly one 4 day cruise - and that was in 1993 on the old Song Of America. BTW, they did do a repeaters party on that one! But that isn't Carnival!
