Carnival just gave us a good Veteran's discount on an 8 day Cruise to Mexico on the Spirit. A little over $600pp plus tax and port for an 8 day cruise Cat 8h.
I think that's a pretty good deal. We have done the cruise before, (see my photo link below), but I can do that cruise a few more times. |
gdjoslin-Did you use the Carnival website or your own TA? I know that the DD Form 214 is needed for the discount but with whom do you file it with?

We have a local TA we use. Yes you need a DD214. We gave a copy to our TA and she faxed it to Carnival.
BTW they said you need to have your DD214 to Carnival within 72 hours of booking. So it gives you a little time to find it if you don't know where it is. |
BTW that price was about 90PP cheaper than a previous cruiser discount.
I wish more Cruise lines would give those who serviced a break. |
gdjoslin-Thank You for the response so quickly!
Does Carnival discount all of its cruises to Vets or is it limited to CCL selected cruises?? BillyBuzzy |
It is my understanding that not all cruises have discounts. Some have better than others. For example, we were given a price for the Pride, a 7 day trip to Mexico. The cost was almost the same as the 8 day. Our TA said more people take the 7 day trips, thus the price stays up.
We are retired, but still work for play money. We can take a vacation just about anytime of the year. Gary |
We always get a military discount. It is available to all active and retired military. Most of the Crusielines offer it and yes you need your DD214. At times you can get 2 rooms at the discounted price. You can view these rates at Vacationstogo.com and cruise.com We booked through Carnival for our last cruise but now booking for our next cruise I find I can get it cheaper on line through one of the above websites. Their military rate is cheaper than going directly through Carnival for a military rate. If you want to do a Hawaiian cruise watch these websites Sept-Dec. This past year during these months on Norwegian the military rates for the Pride of Aloha, America and Hawaii were....$199.00 inside, $299.00 oceanview and $399.00 balcony. We already had our cruise planned but are planning on snatching up one of those deals for Dec if they are available this year. I already have our hotel room booked in Oahu at the military hotel Hale Koa which is a beautiful hotel right on the beach.

I posted on this when I found out about it 2-3 years ago.I have used several differant T/A'S over the years and none of them told me about it.I called Carnival to get a price and that is when I found out.I faxed my DD-214 to My personal cruise planner a couple years ago, she keeps it on file so that when I want to book a cruise she has it.Not all cruise lines give the Vet's discount. I know RCCL AND Celebrity does not.I also tried it on Holland America and they didnot offer any vets discount.Tom

We did our first cruise with Carnival. It was a New Years Eve 3 day baja cruise. I booked directly with them, and they asked me if I was in the military or a veteran. I said I am a veteran, and I was able to fax them my DD214. We got $120 off per person, even for a holiday cruise. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...on_biggrin.gif Sweeeet http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...on_biggrin.gif I was very pleasantly surprised.
