That is really a surprise for me! I've been on over 25 cruises with CCL and it never happened at my table, including my birthday cruise. Perhaps it was just the head waitress or a new policy change. Very interesting.

Understand that many Maitre 'ds on ships are often not persuaded to change table assignments just on request alone. (even for honeymoons or anniversaries) I have found that a small portrait of Andrew Jackson quietly passed with a friendly handshake often gets more favorable results. On my last Carnival cruise, this resulted in not only a table for two but a surprise complimentary bottle of (cheap) wine.
