cruzinallthetime has all the right to attack my opinionated dea on how to "rebel against the cruise lines unfair charges".

Hi Life....I have to admit that I actually go on a cruise to enjoy myself - not to join a rebellion against a $40.00 Fountain Card. Is the world full of wrongs - of course - but I don't use it to justify my decisions.....

According to the description of the soda fountain package on Carnival's website the package is "for the duration of the cruise". So yes, it is deceptive to knowlingly and deliberately reuse the fountain card on a different cruise.

Hey Annies, forgot to wish u: Hava great time at the Ecstasy. You'll have fun fer sure.. Four years ago, I escorted the annual "Xciting XXtasy with FunFrenz" sojourn. This time, while U & friends are doing the electric slide dance on the Eastern seaboard, we'll be doin' it at the West coast.

Yes I will also be one of those travellers hauling their own soda & possibly water and yes a bottle of rum on board, not so much to save $$$ or beat the system but it is all about convenience. I may wake up in the middle of the night and desperately need some water, don't want to wait for room service or go down to the restaurant. Also I enjoy a drink while getting ready to go out and there is nothing like a brandy & baileys on your balcony before bed. As well sometimes the fountain soda's don't always taste the way they should. More importantly my daughter is a diabetic and you cannot always trust that you are getting "diet" so for that reason alone I will take advantage of bringing the soda but I do plan on purchasing a soda card as I do not want to have to run back to my cabin everytime I need a drink. I figure that if I can't afford a $40 soda card of if I can't afford to buy my own bar drinks....maybe I should be going to an all inclusive resort. I kind of like sitting at the bar getting served while on vacation and getting to choose from all different types of drinks, in nice glasses with fruit. We all know that when going on a cruise it means an added bar bill at the end, so prepare.I guess we have to keep in mind that everyone has their own way of doing things, and if scamming a few drinks is all that is done so be it. We're all out there to have fun and I will be having LOTS of it very soon on our cruise Nov 17.

Hey Life, hope to meet up with you sometime on a future cruise. You sound like someone worth getting to know. I know, just from your posts, that you'll have a FABULOUS time on your upcoming voyage, but best wishes from me nonetheless. I'll be taking my daughter and mother on their first cruise in December, I only hope we can make some interesting and fun new friendships.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your wife. I work in a Dr's office and after 15 years of seeing bad things happen to good people I still curse the unfairness of it!! Glad to know you have found solace and happiness within a supportive network of friends. "Ewww, we get by with a little help from our friends!!" (sorry, it seems I sing just as badly in print as my daughter asserts that I do in person!)

I normally don't do a lot of posts to this board; generally just ??'s and the occasional recommendation. But when I got on the other night and read your rather innocuous post and the follow-ups ("disgusting", "cheap", "tacky") a got riled and my instincts (my father would've called it my liberal streak) were to protect. Sounds silly I know, but for whatever reason, it struck a nerve; like in elementary school when a kid volunteered an answer that you knew was wrong but you still felt bad when everyone scoffed or laughed at him. I've traditionally been a very live and let live type of person, but the older I get and the more "society & politicians" try to cram their "morality" down my throat, the more I've begun to rebel and bristle at attempts by others to re-opinionate me.

P.S. Just to clear up a few items. . .
If $40 isn't spare change to you, then I obviously wasn't referring to you in my earlier post since I clearly prefaced it with "for those of you who believe".
And my "splendid glass homes", wasn't a reference to monetary worth or any such thing, but merely my round about way of referencing the old tried, but still true, "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones". IE, you'd be hard pressed to convince me that there is anyone out there who hasn't STOLEN (gasp), whether it was taking two samples when the sign clearly said, Please Take One or when the teenager at the check-out gives you a dollar too much back in change, or when you had a little taste of your friend's dessert she got at the all-you-can-eat buffet (no sharing please). Ethics. . .Morals. . . even when I disagree I try to check the down-the-nose attitude at the door 'cause to the best of my knowledge there has reportedly only been ONE PERFECT person EVER and I'm certain he's not posting on this site.
