I keep the money/traveler's checks divided for the days. I always have a problem trying to fudge on my gambling allotment as well. I try to tip toe in the cabin to get a little more cash to play with.

I prefer the button safes simply because I don't want to carry two cards around. When I am on the ship the only thing I want in my pocket is the cruise card and maybe some cash for bar tips.

Hmmmm seems to be a mixture of the button code safes and the magnetic card safes on Carnival.

I agree that the code safe is the better way to go. If they don't want you to use your sign and sail card (for whatever reason) that means you either have to carry another card around with you or leave it "hidden" in the cabin somewhere. If you carry it off the ship with you and it gets lost or stolen then you can't get back into the safe without a purser coming to your cabin to open the dang thing.

I can pick a four digit code and remember it much better than worrying about which card last locked the safe.

I was just on the Carnival Spirit and they told you to use your Ship's card.....but I do like the 4 button coded safe much better.....unless I have a Senior Moment while opening it and can't remember the combination.....Happy Cruising...

the safe with the numbers are not easy for an old person like me...I had to have the purser come open mine once...I forgot the combo...and i set it!!!

Must be a change in policy, unless I am confusing cruise lines. But then that does open up the possibility of theft if a savvy crook steals your card.

We use our PIN from the ATM card for the button safes. It is memorized and we both know it

that would work for some but not for me...i travel with my sister and we dont know each others pin #. so we used our birthday....but i couldnt remember who i put in first...it locked us out...

That is a new one for me. They have always said not to use it in the past.

No you can not use the sail and sign card to lock the safe. It will erase the info on the strip. At least that is what on the the Pursers told us.
