Yes the walkie-talkies will work.

We were on the Pride in March and had a wonderful time. I love the Spirit class ships.

Just remember that at Long Beach pier you do wait outdoors for embarkation. There is not a lot of sitting area and the majority is not covered should it be really hot or raining.
