Carnival's Fantasy was hit by a rice barge today, which damaged the ship enough to cancel the next cruise. Read the latest (and rather oddly worded) press release here.
Here is the story from the Sunday edition of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. 25% off a future cruise seems a little low to me, but there I go again spending Carnival's money.

It was a full refund, 25% off your next cruise and $200 per person for anyone who had independent airline travel. I thought that was fair.
I just hate it when this type of thing happens. The cruise line gets blamed, the customers get hosed - and angry, and in the end there are just a lot of ill feelings all around. No doubt that Carnival will pursue legal action against the towboat operator and I hope Carnival gets every penny they can.
This is the ship that I convinced a group of 30 to go on in September! Luckily, they all made nonrefundable payments on Friday! I can't wait to hear the funny comments tomorrow anyway! Knowing my group, they will all just laugh it off and be glad noone was hurt! It will be long forgotten come September!!!
