My family just booked the Sept. 9th cruise on the Conquest out of Galveston. This will be my sisters and my first cruise, but my parents went on a Sept. cruise in 05 right after Katrina. They went with another couple and sat at a table with only the four of them. There will be five of us on this cruise and I was wondering if we would be sat at a table with others or if we would take up a table on our own. We want to meet other people so if anyone has any advice it'd be great!

Call your travel agent or Carnival and tell them your preference. They will try to accomodate you if possible. After boarding, if you do not like your assignment, speak to the maitre'd who might can reassign you. In that case, sooner is better than later.

I'd say your chances are good. The table sizes are 4,some 6 but mostly tables of 8. They also have larger tables of 10 but most are 8, so you will most likely be at table for 8 with another group of 3. But tncruiseman gave you the correct advice. Talk to you travel agent and let them know you would like to be sat with another group and if that doesn't pan out, talk to the Maitre'd the first day before dinner (go when you get on board... You can give them you assigned table numbe r(on your sign and sail card) and ask them to show you your table.. if it isn't larger than 4, ask them if you can be seated with another group (and why) hopefully they will accomidate you.

I think you have it correct wanting to sit with others. We always meet new friends while cruising. Worst case you go to the dinning rooms for breakfast and lunch service and you get seated first come first serve and you will meet new people that way.

You also didn't say how old you were.. but if you are young, (teens or younger) go to the first couple of camp carnival events for your age group. you can certainly meet new friends there too...

As soon as we board the ship, we go and check out our cabin. Next, we head to the dining room to see where we are seated. If you're not happy, speak to the maitre 'd immediately. Don't wait. On our last cruise our family of 4 was at a long table against the window. I believe it sat 10. We wanted a table for just the 4 of us because we're always going in different directions at home and this was our chance to eat together alone. The Maitre 'd was able to change our table, but we were forced to change our time to an 8:30 seating. It was worth it.
