For those who will be flying what are the things you need to take on a cruise that also you will have no problem taking on the airplane? I know they have changed a lot of things about liquids etc...how about small bottles of shampoo etc can we take those? Any just anything else that would be helpful.

It's the new 3-1-1 rule. Liquids can be up to 3 oz in size, have to be in a 1 20x20" ziplock bag and there is 1 bag allowed per passenger. Check on the airlines website. It's all explained in details there.
Your check luggage can have as much liquid as you desire.
Just put in you carry on what you need for 1 day. Consider your bags might not arrive at your stateroom door until 7 pm. So what do you need in between: change of clothes, bathing suit, shorts & t-shirt if you come from colder climates.
Click HERE for the TSA's guidelines regarding 3-1-1. As MrsB noted, this applies only to carry-ons.
If you'd like to take shampoo, you can either pack it in your checked luggage, or carry on the 3-ounce (or less) size within the quart-sized ziploc baggie. Note that bottles within the ziploc should have the capacity indicated on them.
iPods and MP3 players are fine. They just can't be used during take-off and landing. My son brings along a portable DVD player to keep him occupied both during the flight and between connections.
