Just had a couple of questions and an introduction.

Hello all! I have been reading all the posts I can to get a good base for this site! I have to say you all have gotten me extremely excited about my first cruise! This site have a wealth of info that has helped me understand the cruising experience much more than I expected!!! So thank you all!

I am going on a cruise this October (Carnival Sensation, departure 22nd) with a big group of co-workers! Some have cruised before others are newbies like me. I haven't been able to find much info on this ship in this forum.... I have read the reviews on the "reviews" section but it seemed very negative.... I am wondering if anyone has had first hand experience recently on this ship? I have read all the tips and wish I would of posts and I have learned alot but I am open to any other advise!!

Thanks again and any insight would be greatly appreciated!

mas05-- Welcome aboard cruise chat!

The Sensation is similar in style to many of Carnival's ships, so you may try looking for info on the Inspriation, the Fasination etc... While these are older Carnival Ships, they are by no means ready for the scrap yards. I wouldn't hold too much into one negative review. You can't please everyone and it can greatly depend on your expectations going into your cruise. Since this is your first one, you will be able to make up your own mind. Also keep in mind that the ships get renovated from time to time (dry docked and redecorated, updated etc) so if someone cruise on a ship right before its due for refurb, then its going to look its worst.

Anyway, you can ask any questions you like. All of us addicted cruisers love to talk about cruising.

The Sensation came out in 1993. It was recently refurbished in March of this year. There were some problems when the ship first came out of refurbishment. Those problems have been resolved. You should have a fun cruise.

If you go on to Carnival Sensation you can do the virtual tour and get info on the ship etc. We are going in Nov on the Fascination which is similar to the Sensation. We have been on the Fascination 2 years ago for a 3 day cruise and thought it was great. We wnet on the Grand Princess last year which was a much larger ship and preferred the Fascination over the Grand for many different reasons. Whether it be your 1st 2nd, or 3rd you will have a GREAT time. Cruising is so much fun. Also if you are with a group of people you will make your own fun no matter what. Have a fantastic cruise, you must be so excited.
Leigh

Our first cruise was on the Sensation in 1997--and it made us cruise crazy.

Keith&Rita brings up a good point.. Be careful not to have too much fun or you end up cruise addicts like the rest of us.

And since Cruise Fanatic came through with the refurbishment date info (thanks CF!) its safe to say you should not have any issues with the ship itself not being in good shape. So go and have FUN!!

The Sensation is a 70,000 ton load of fun.

The last time I sailed on her I had laryngitis (addicted to karaoke) and I STILL had fun.

Cruising is a frame of mind. If you let little things ruin your good time...they will. If you don't...they won't!!

Take about $50 in one dollar bills to tip room service. There is only one outlet in the cabin, so take an extension cord. Order any and everything in the dining room that you want. (yes, even 2 lobsters)

Have a great time!!

LHP,
I see you've sailed on many cruises. I've sailed 2 cruises, Conquest in 2004 and Celebration in 1997. Other than the Conquest being a newer, prettier, larger boat - I actually enjoyed myself more on Celebration. In my opinion, the smaller boat actually catered to it's passengers more. It's more personable.....or maybe it was because it was my 1st cruise. What do you think? The reason I'm asking, is because I won a cruise and I have to take it before May 2007. What ship is your favorite, and why??? Thanks!!!

mas05,

Welcome Aboard also Last sailed on Sensation in 96 and had a great time, as you read above they have recently refurbished this ship. I sailed on Fantasy her sister ship after a refurbishment in 03 and she looked great..didn't even recognize the promenade.

Unless is some major problem, 99% is someone's attitude. Take the advice of the previous member posts..Go Have Fun

Mommatee, Hello how are you? This is you very first cousin and I can remember you saying to me " If I have anything you need and I got it for free it's yours" So if you are a very first cousin of your word you will hand over that free cruise to me now. If you decide to not keep your promise and go on that free cruise yourself I hope you have a safe and fun cruise and I will continue to be your cousin in hopes of you giving me the next free cruise you win. Have a wonderful time!!!!
