This will be my second cruise first on Carnival I know this has probably been asked before and yes I am asking again, are the tips automatically put on your sign and sail card and if so what is the standard amount so I can plan for that much even a rough estimate would help thank you.

Yep, includes everyone except the matre d. That is at your own discretion. If you get lousy service from one aspect of your cruise, you can redistribute your automatic tip so that you give appropriately to the staff members that are really good and not so much to the ones who are less than adequate.

So $10 per person per day is like a 6 day cruise would be $60 or $60 x let's say Head waiter, cabin steward, waiter and Matre'd which comes to $240 in tips for a 6 day cruise. Sorry but I need you to break it down for me.

Just $60 per person in your cabin. So if it is you and your husband, $120/for 6 days.

All right here we go:
$5.50 per day--Dining room waiter and assistant
$3.50 per day--Cabin steward (if he or she has an assistant, the steward will pay them from the amount they receive)
$1.00 per day--Lido deck buffet and other kitchen personnel
Drinks are automatically billed with a %15 gratuity
If you order room service, they appreciate a
$1-$2 tip.

Again, matre d' is at your discretion and you will receive an envelope in your room towards the end of the cruise. The $10 per day does not cover him or her so tip them commensurate to the quality of services that they render.

The maitre D' thing always confuses me about giving him a tip. If I ask for a seating change and it is handled quickly I would give a tip.

If I don't ask for anything special, should I still tip him?
