Carnival's Web site was the source for the above. They're pretty vague on the site, mentioning only the ships that have Spa categories. It would appear, therefore, that smoking is permitted in all staterooms and balconies on other ships, and is limited to designated public areas on the ship. That was also the case on our Elation cruise last month.
It is or was, the same as my previous post but also add the Sports Bar. As LHP noted, they have made some changes on the newer ships. So I'm not certain about the Disco now.
Outside open decks on Starboard side.
Casino.
Piano Bar.
Disco.
Cigar Bar.
Sports Bar.
Usually one other lounge.
Oh, I forgot to mention the aft Lido deck on the Glory is non smoking in entirety. Carnival is pretty consistent, however there are some differences on the ships. For example on the Fascination the entire casino bar is non smoking, on the Fantasy the first third facing the casino is smoking.
As a former smoker,38 years of it, 5+ years smoke free, I can tell you that smoking sucks!I wish all cruises were smoke free. It is a terrible addiction and very hard to quit, I know. But it can be done.
The last time we were on the Pride (when it was in LA) Smoking in your cabin was tied to your location. I forget if it was port or starboard. I am not a smoker and I can tell you if you smoke on your balcony it does go into someones cabin.
This is true. We had to close our balcony door on a couple of cruises because of the cigarette smoke coming in from an upwind cabin. What a nasty habit.

I've never heard of that before. They designate the outside open decks on Starboard as smoking. Just never heard of them designating cabins other than the non smoking Spa cabins.

I remember this, not necessarily on Carnival (as I am a relative latecomer to the line), but it was common on several cruise lines. I'm not exactly certain, yet I think that the rise in booking guaranteed cabin categories may have helped put an end to this.
I still don't remember it, of course my rememberer is not as good as it used to be. You got me thinking though this could have been after they changed the Paradise to smoking. They subsequently repositioned the Pride out there. I'll have to check my vast archives of Carnival history.
