Me and my hubby are both smokers, are there designated places where we can smoke ( are there a lot or a little)? We plan on getting a balcony cabin, can we smoke on the balcony? What about in the casino? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
The answer to your questions used to be "yes" but Carnival has started changing smoking areas on the newer ships. If you can give us the name of the ship you will be on we can help you better.

Then yes, you should be able to smoke in many areas. The casino- yes (although they may have a couple of tables designated non smoking you can still smoke in the casino) There will be dedicated smoking areas but there are many. You should not have a problem finding a place to smoke. You can smoke on the balcony and in your cabin but be careful not to throw anything from the balcony as it will blow back onto the ship and could start a fire.

As Jim noted, the casino is smoking. The other areas are;
Outside open decks on Starboard side.
Piano Bar.
Disco.
Cigar Bar.
Usually one other lounge.
The FunTimes is Carnival's on board daily newsletter. On the back page it will detail the Smoking Areas of the particular ship.
Carnival has pretty consistant designated smoking areas....but here lately some of the newer ships have had some changes.
For the Sensation, most of the designated space listed previously will be on Promenade. (casino, cover band bar, disco and cigar bar)
The piano bar is on Atlantic next to the middle Main Dining Room.
Then out by the pool on the Starboard side.
And of course, on your balcony.
The only thing to remember is that walking from venue to venue with a lit cigarette is not allowed. And if someone smokes in their cabin, they can't prop the door open, since there is no smoking allowed out in the hallways.
Thanks for checking where smoking is allowed, as a nonsmoker, I always appreciate courteous smokers.
Another note, I have friends who use the electronic cigarettes when they are on a cruise. You can use these ANYWHERE at anytime, but you will get questioned from time to time by staff until they realize it is an E cig...

I'm surprised to hear they allow smoking in cabins. Royal Caribbean only allows smoking on the balcony of a cabin. There are other areas were smoking is allowed, but not too many. Smokers must be getting use to hunting for public places to smoke with all the new state laws.
