Sailing out of Jacksonville, Florida

I have heard from several people that the water tends to be rough sailing out of Jacksonville
to the Bahamas. Has anyone been on this sailing and if so, how would you rate the motion to sailings out of the Gulf of Mexico.

We have sailed out of Jacksonville to Puerto Rico and did not have problems with rough sea.
And we came back from the Bahamas to Jacksonville and also no problems.

It would probaly depend on what is going on at the time weather-wise. Generally my experience has been the Gulf is a little calmer seas post Hurricane season..Hope helps

My wife and I sailed out of Jax on Carnival's Celebration on Oct. 3 2005 to Key West and Nassau. The rolling and pitching were unacceptable, IMO. I am a Navy veteran and am accustomed to this, but I would not expect it on a cruise that I paid for. I understood the rough seas on the way out since a tropical storm was brewing but on the return trip from Nassau, it was worse, with no storms around. This being our first cruise, we will be hesitant to take another.
