WE ARE HOME!!! I am SO tired! That was a lot of fun, but there is no place like home.
I think that I like cruises (minus the sea sickness!), but I honestly don't think I'll do Carnival again - just not my style.
I had a clients that went on a Carnival cruise last week also, the biggest complaint they had was the mass amount of unruly children, poor service, even the fact that they could'nt get into the hot tubs because they were over taken with kids. They were dissapointed, since they had been on the the same ship back in October and stated the difference was like night and day. Usually the first week of June pretty much through the 2nd week of August you will find an abundance of children on the ship since that is the most popular time for families to travel because of school vacation. You will find the same problems on other mass market ships during this time of year. Thats why we personally prefer to cruise during the fall and early winter months.
I don't think it was having lots of kids that bothered me. After all, I brought 2 of my own! I was bothered by the rude and unsupervised children - just not acceptable!
What I didn't like was that, in general, the cruise lacked class. It was just not my style. I'm not a goofy party type. Mismatched plastic cups, hairy chest contests and singing wait staff just isn't my thing.
Of course, the entire trip was a gift from my (slightly tacky) mother in law, so we smiled and said thank you - until we were alone in our cabin with time to vent!
I think that cruising can be a great vacation. I look forward to going on another when I am able to choose something more to my liking.
Nancy, you would probably enjoy Celebrity cruises or Princess. Those are definetly a step above the Carnival line. Yeah, Hairy chest contests are not my favorite thing either lol.
Unruly children are not my thing either. I have a 14 year old who has been cruising with us since she was 9, we have done the Carnival and she loves it, and as I stated before, this particular time of year is really full of families vacationing. I can't imagine some of the kids who go wild on these ships would act like that at home, but you never know..lol
I just booked a cruise on Glory for December 3, 2005. We have a balcony room, towards the center of the ship. It is on the Veranda deck. What do you experienced cruisers think? Will it be noisy? If you could have your choice, where would it be?
We had a balcony room on the Lido (9th) deck, fairly close to the center. It was not very noisy at all, really. I thought it would be since it was the same deck and the pools and buffets and all. Plus, the elevators and stairs were right outside our room. That turned out to tbe a great plus!
We were in cabin 9274, if you look at the online deck plan.
I remember wandering the halls of the Veranda deck. Since it's basically all cabins, it seemed really long and cavernous compared to the Lido "do it all" deck.
I can't imagine cruising without a balcony. I'm sure I'll never want to do it!
We sailed in April 2005 on Glory. We stayed in 8255 on the Verandah deck. It was great. There was no noise at all except our room was near the elevators. When people got off, they tended to be loud at times.
