I agree - go cheap - enjoy the Island with the money you save on the room. We spend very little time in the rooms - we are always in a hurry to get back out and see what's going on.
I was tempted to book an inside and save a few bucks. But when we did the Mexican Rivera there was a point that dolphins were swimming along side the ship. It was announced over the intercolm. We were dressing and I would've missed it without my window cabin. It was pretty aweseome to watch them. YEAH it was only 10 minutes of a 7 day cruise, but I JUST CAN'T DO the interor. I sure wish I could because I agree, it's only for dressing and showering and sleeping. So although I shouldn't care...I do!
We booked a guaranteed balcony on the sixth floor and when we got our documents in the mail, we were excited to see that we got upgraded to the eighth deck. When you book a guaranteed cabin you get the min. of that category.

I am worried because a friend of mine just told me when she went on a cruise last year another couple going with them did the same thing and when they went to check in they were told that the cruise line didn't upgrade them and all cabins were sold out so they did not have a cabin for them and did not let them board. Has anyone ever heard of this happening to anyone else or any way to be sure you actually are in a cabin before you leave?
Thanks
We always book GTY on Carnival its the best way to go in my opinion if you dont have your heart set on a particular cabin or a particular part of the ship as we always have goten bumped up to an outside.
