What should I pack for our cruise. Going to Costa Maya and Cozumel

Hello figgygirl and welcome to cruise-chat!

I edited your message so I could modify the subject to add "what to pack" to it. This will make it easier for members to see what you are asking without having to open the message thread.

What to pack......well, it appears you are on the 5-day cruise of the Holiday so you will need one "nice outfit" for the formal night. Other than that, just whatever you want to bring along will do. The other evenings are casual dress which means anything except shorts or blue jeans in the dining room. I'd bring along a light jacket or sweater just in case. Some evenings - even in April - can be cool.

I am going on this same cruise next month, along with fellow forum member tncruiseman. We have lots of members from Tennessee!

My rule of packing is to put everything you think you should take for the cruise on the bed. Then pack the formal wear, the swimsuit, the bathroom items and a pair of sandals (or flip flops). Then take about half of what is left because you will not wear it and you will end up with new clothing (t-shirts, shorts hats etc...) in the first port you hit anyway.

Dave is correct about the sweater or light jacket. My wife is always cold in the ship, so she likes to have a sweater for when we go to the theater or lounges...

Looks like I am in trouble with the nice suit for formal night. I actually GAINED weight in Honduras and had a problem getting into my suit for a funeral yesterday! Its hard to fathom gaining weight in a third world country! Must have been the beer! (At least I bought some diet pills while I was down there

It has been at least 4 years since I last wore my dinner jacket. I forgot about it until last week when I was rummaging through the closet and found it - still in the dry cleaning bag with tags attached. I tried the jacket on. Bad news. I couldn't even button it!

I have the impression that the Holiday is not as fancy as the other ships. I am wondering about formal night on this ship. I read somewhere that only one person had on a tux for formal night, what did other people wear?? My husband is very much a jeans and tee shirt guy. I have told him we are going to have to buy him a new suit at least. Will there be people on formal night not in a suit and tie? I afraid if I make him buy a new suit and half the room is in collared shirts he'll throw me overboard.lol. From my research, I'm guessing the newer ships are dresser. I am taking this cruise with my two teenage daughters and my husband. I think we will be fine on formal night but I'm wondering what he should wear???

Formal night is the same on all the ships. You do have the choice of not going to the dining room Formal night and eating on the Lido Deck.

A tux isn't necessary. A nice suit is appreciated. If you don't want to spend the money on a suit that will only be worn once, you can always rent the tux on the ship or, go to a Thrift shop.

You may even want to take a chance and search on "Craigs List."

Yup, the Holiday cruise is just a few days away. It sort of snuck up on me!
