We're booked on the Holiday 3/17 sailing. Although I have not sailed on Holiday before, I know many people that have and everyone recommends her. Dave, a cruise chat moderator, has traveled on her numerous times and is also going on our same cruise. From what I hear, Holiday has the highest repeat cruiser rate of any ship but don't know that as fact.
The main difference in the ships' amenities is the Holiday doesn't have the 5-level atrium. All other amenities are there. Although Holiday is smaller than Inspiration, it also carries far less passengers, which usually makes service more personal.
If you try a smaller ship for your first cruise and enjoy it, you will have a whole fleet to choose from, and look forward to sailing on in the future. If you start at the top, you will probably limit your future ship choices to those same size or larger, and thus miss out on something.
The more you save on the cruise, the more you can spend on board and at ports and have an even better time! You'll have a great time on either ship for sure.
