Just a heads up, just received the news (actually in my email for 2 days, been out of town and just got a chance to read it)that Carnival is replacing Celebration with Fascination:
Carnival Cruise Lines and the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) today announced a significant increase in capacity for Jacksonville’s cruise operations when the 2,052-passenger Carnival Fascination replaces the 1,486-passenger Celebration on four- and five-day cruises year-round from Jacksonville beginning Sept. 20, 2008.
Carnival Fascination currently operates three- and four-day cruises from Miami and will continue that program through Sept. 15, 2008. The Celebration will remain in Jacksonville through its departure date of April 14, 2008. Future deployment plans for that vessel will be announced at a later date.

It will fit under the bridge, but the captain gets on the intercom and asks everyone to run over to the port side railing and kind of lean over a bit. That buys them a couple of extra feet of clearence when the ship lists to the left.
Just kidding. It is intesting news though since we have already heard that the Holiday was going to be sold off and moved out of Mobile. Seems like maybe both Celebration class ships are being removed from service. Its a bit sad really, they are really a nice size ship for those that don't like the mega liners that are all the rage now.

I just got home from a presentation by my Carnival DSM and this topic was brought up. She said that all they are telling the DSM's is that the Fascination is taking the place of the Celebration. No word on what is going to happen to the Celebration but I kind of figure they will move her to one of their other brands. They have done that in the past with some of the older, smaller ships. I just wonder if they will move another ship into Miami to replace the Fascination? Time will tell.
It would be nice if they would move her to Charleston, after all most of the other "homeports" have full time ships. We have NCL Majesty about 6 months out of the year and have heard that she will probably be leaving around 2009. Celebration would be the perfect size to port there. That is until Charleston decides to open the old Naval base, then we could really have a bunch of ships coming.
Carol, That would be an excellent idea! I had suggested the same about the Holiday. This would be a great market for Her. I am sorta thinking that they want a more uniform type product though. Keeping my fingers crossed we get one soon.
Seatrade Insider reports that "Celebration" will enter service with Iberocruceros, Carnival's new joint-venture with Spanish company Iberojet, in late spring, 2008.
