Only played in high school. I was good though and thought about being a music teacher for a while. I held the first chair, 1st clarinet position for all 4 years in high school. But I was also the marching band drum major, which led me to join the Marines since I was so good at marching.

Having the good horns is more a result of having an itchy eBay finger than anything else!

Dave, we have a lot of parallels;
I was first chair, 1st trombone all four years in high school in concert band and drum section leader in marching band.
I started college with the intention of teaching music at the high school level but found out along the way I could actually make a living playing music and so never finished school--much to my regret today. But it all worked out o.k.
