Coke is better in Mexico, and so is Pepsi in Honduras. Someone once told me it was because they used real cocaine in the mix....any truth to that?

Thats a relief! I was thinking we might be becoming addicts. In Honduras, the ketchup is to die for because of the cane sugar used. probably the same in Mexico. I was real tempted to bring some back but didn't want to take the chance with customs. With my luck, I would get caught just thinking about it!

ntcruiseman..THANKS! I appreciate the perspective. I never bring a truckload of water anyways and I am one of THOSE PEOPLE who actually buy a soda card so I guess this would be a very tiny inconvenience...if any.

Not trying to be a cruise line policy advocate, but please don't make this a big issue. Usually new policies are a reaction to occurences or events. Beverages in suitcases get heavy and may not be packed well and the multitude of bags being handled, sometimes roughly, is enormous. Containers get broken and passengers get mad because the porters did not handle their luggage carefully. With the new policy, case closed..the beverages should not have been there. this scenario is probably one of many that led to this printed policy.
Another factor could be over-abuse of the previous policy, and I honestly cannot imagine a hometown restaurant saying it is ok to bring your own beverages at all. A few cans and no one cares, but when truckloads arrive and they have to hire additional people to carry them on, it is a problem.
Please try and not let a 6-pack of your favorite beverage get in the way of a great vacation. Slip one in and don't say anything and I bet you'll be fine. Bring the pantry along and get tagged.
I agree that Carnival is simply giving themselves the "option" to crack down on those who bring "half of Georgia" on board.
I don't drink Coke...but I don't expect Carnival to get all upset if I bring a 6 pack of what I do drink in my carry on in Sept. If they take it, so be it.
I know that to be true. Went on Celebration out of JAX a few years back, and they had a GA Residents Special. Half the ship was from GA and all your heard all week was Go Dogs
