Port Transfer

Hi:

We're flying to Miami in October for an eastern caribbean cruise. Is it easy and inexpensive to catch a cab from MIA to the port? We arrive 6:58AM and don't want to sit around waiting for Carnival's transfer service to begin. Also, how early can you check in to the cruise? Thanks!!

I'm sailing on a RCCL ship in October. I've done this several times and found it very easy to get a taxi to the Port of Miami, the cost should be around $30 for two people. However, boarding usually doesn't happen before 11:30 AM, and it's only a 20 minute ride from the airport to the port. Once you get to the port there's nothing to do but stand around. Not even a place to get a cup of coffee.

Wow, where are you coming from that you can Arrive in Miami at 7 AM? As Sonny says, I wouldn't want to arrive at the port any earlier than 10AM because its rare that the can begin boarding earlier than 11:30AM and you are just going to be sitting/standing around. In fact, if you arrived at 8, you are going to be caught in the rush of people coming off the previous cruises!.

I'm not even sure they begin accepting luggage for a cruise that early or I would suggest you go and drop it off and then have the cab driver drop you off at Bay Side and you could have breakfast there and go back (but that would cost another cab fare of about $15 -they charge an entrance fee to the cab which pass it on to you)

IF you have nowhere else to go but the port, I would suggest you hang at the airport and have breakfast before heading to the ship.

sorry---i don't know how to do this for sure, as you can tell.
My question is---can 4 people ride together in a cab from the hotel to Port and split the cost or do they charge you 60.00?

msdurk. We also are leaving on the 13th on the Triumph. We have found a hotel, AMERISUITES. that has a shuttle to the dock. It is only about $10.00. each. and a free shuttle from the airport. I would imagine you have to stay with them tho. We have stayed their before and it worked out really good.

The cab fare should be the same price no matter how many people use it. We took a cab from the airport to a hotel down near the port. It was metered and cost us $26.00.
