My husband refuses to go anywhere he is not allowed to smoke (not cigars), so I was wondering what the smoking policies are on Carnival cruises. I read that it is not allowed in the main dining room, but nothing is mentioned other than that. Can anyone out there tell me if and where smoking is allowed? Thanks.

On Carnival, smoking is allowed in the casino and bars, on the open deck (in most places) and also in cabins. It is prohibited in the dining areas and the theaters, show lounges and shopping areas. Their brochures usually outline the details of this. Cigar and pipe smoking I believe are totally prohibited, although some cruise lines have offered cigar bars in recent years. Do not book a cruise for your husband on Carnival Paradise, however, as smoking is forbidden anywhere on that ship - inside or outside, by passengers or crew - and anyone caught doing it will be put off at the next port with no compensation.

Just got off the Pride. You can smoke in the casino anywhere. Other than that all bars and outside are smoking on one side of the ship and not the other.

With the exception of the Paradise, which is totally smoke free, smoking is permitted in bars, lounges, outside on the decks and the casino. The bars, lounges and outside decks have smoking on one side and non smoking on the other. You just look for the side that has the ashtrays. Pipe and cigar are usually somewhere outside on Carnival.

The dining rooms, shops and theaters do not allow smoking at all.
