OK, I am going to pick up some Malt Vinegar and give this a try. I am surprised I have never heard of it, some parts of my family tree are English. I always wondered why they give you the packs of vinegar at Long John Silver's, I thought it was for your cole slaw
Be sure to use the Malt Vinager on the chips, not the fish. And the Fish and Chips spot also has other fish as well. The Oysters were very strong, not my cup of tea, they also had mussels and other fish in a broth of some sort that people raved about. And it is all included in your fare, so eat up and try everything
Billy, I am thinking the same thing. I am going to get some big "prawns" and put them on the barbie this weekend. Wifey said we could splurge this one time, and she is getting fresh flounder and some blue crabs!
I am going to be dipping my prawns in cocktail sauce, slopping some tarter sauce on the fish, and dipping the crabs in drawn butter
IslandCruz-I made sure I used the Malt Vinegar-it was my first time-It was, to say the least-a whole new dining experience!! From this thread I am learnin' cruisin' and cuisine!! Good thing you have all advised about the chips!!
Does the Triumph have this epicurean delight, also are we discussing the same thing, the fish, it should be a fillet of white fish, haddock, cod, ect, the coating or batter should be light and crispy, a mixture of flour and water, fizzy water ice cold makes a good batter, like tempura, it should be then plunged into hot oil, in Yorkshire it is traditional to use beef dripping to fry the fish and chips, not my cup of tea! the malt vinegar is amust both on the fish and chips and mushy peas to cut through any residual greasyness talking of tea it is the only time I would drink it,a must is also a plate ofthe cheapest white sandwich bread coated liberaly with butter you then take some of your chips place them between the two slices of white bread, the Chip Butty has then been created,I am only allowed this type of food when my wifes grip relaxes on holiday, make my day and tell me some of this exists on the Triumph. I don't think the Triumph has the fish and chips. . . .The Victory, its sister ship, doesn't. I was pretty disappointed to see that as the Valor had them. I don't eat fish, but I loved the chips.
Hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so as I checked the deck plans and didn't see the FC anywhere.
