my husband and i would like to wear casual clothe thru the whole cruise. i wonder if i can wear capri pants at night and still be allowed in casino. we don't plan on eating in the dining area just for this reason. can he wear nice shorts and i wear capris and still be allowed to participate in the night life. can we wear this attire to the shows? i'm feeling a bit stressed as we don't want to have to wear slacks, skirts etc. but i want to be able to have a night life. any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to cruise-chat! Since you are posting this in the Carnival forum, I assume you will be sailing on a Carnival ship. If that is the case, YES, you will be able to participate in all the evening activities. You will find that many of the guests (even on Formal Night) will change their clothing into more casual attire after dinner. Since you are not planning to dine in the main dining room it is a total non-issue. Don't stress - just anticipate a wonderful time!

Hi Bobdeb01,
yes, by all means, stop stressing!! My Carnival cruises were much more relaxed attire than I expected. After awhile, it seemed no one even really noticed attire. And you might want to give the dining room a try at least on one night, it became one of our highlights! Happy sailing!

Well here I am again putting in my 2 cents, CARNIVAL IS VERY CASUAL EVEN ON THE CAPT. DINNER NIGHT, THE FOLKS CAME PRETTY MUCH DRESS AS YOU ARE, MIND YOU NO SHORTS OR T SHIRTS IN DINING ROOM ALTHO THEY WILL NOT THROW YOU OUT, IT IS REALLY QUITE FUN TO DRESS UP FOR ONE NIGHT TO HAVE ALL THE PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN, I KNOW YOU WILL BUY AT LEAST ONE OUT OF THE 20 OR SO TAKEN, NO OBLIGATION TO PURCHASE THEY ARE ON DISPLAY AND YOU CHOOSE AND DISCARD WHAT YOU DO NOT WANT WITH THE SALES DESK PERSON, WE ENJOYED GOING TO DINNER EVERY NIGHT TO SEE WHAT KIND OF ENTERTAINMENT THE CREW HAD PLANNED THEY GET A LITTLE WILD DANCING ON THE TABLES AND ALL, AND YOU EVEN GET TO JOIN IN, I HIGHLY RECCOMEND GOING TO THE DINING ROOM EVERY NIGHT, YOU WILL STILL HIT THE BUFFET LINE AND THE PIZZA DECK AFTERWARD, DINNER IS SERVED IN SMALL PORTIONS THEY HAVE DIFFERENT MENUS EVERYNIGHT SO WE ORDERED TWO MEALS EACH ON YHE NIGHTS THEY HAD PRIME RIB AND LOBSTER THERE IS NO LIMIT IF YOU WANT 2 LOBSTERS ORDER THEM WE EVEN HAD A COUPLE AT OUR TABLE WHO DID NOT LIKE ANYTHING ON THE NIGHTS MENU AND THEY ORDERED BURGERS AND FRIES, YOUR WISH IS CARNIVALS COMMAND, THEY ARE THERE TO HELP YOU GET THE BEST VACATION EVER, MY BROTHER IS A BIKER AND HE DOES NOT DRESS UP FOR ANYTHING, AND HE FOUGHT US THE WHOLE TIME ABOUT THE DINING ROOM, THERE WERE 8 IN OUR PARTY AND WE ALL TALKED HIM INTO GOING AND HE WORE HIS BLACK JEANS AND HIS HARLEY LEATHER VEST AND THE WAITERS WANTED TO KNOW ALL ABOUT HIS BIKE LOL, HE WAS IN HEAVEN AFTER THAT AND HAD A BLAST SO NOT TO FEAR YOU CAN DRESS UP OR GO CASUAL, WE ALL CHANGED INTO OUR REG. CLOTHES AFTER THE PICTURE TOUR SO IT WAS NOT THAT BAD, UNLESS YOU ENJOY RUNNING AROUND IN YOUR HEELS AND STOCKINGS, JACKET AND TIES, IT JUST WAS REALLY NICE TO SEE EVERY ONE DRESSED TO THE NINES, WHICH ALOT OF US DO NOT DO ANYMORE THESE DAYS OF HUSSLE AND BUSSEL, RELAX TAKE IT ALL IN AND HAVE FUN........ NEXT CRUISE FOR US JAN. 8 CONQUEST NOLA WAHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! IN NEED OF MY CRUISE FIX

Hi. I also was worried about dressing for Carnival Cruise. Let me tell you, people wear what they want on the cruise. We just got back from Southern Carribean. By all means GO to the Dining room. It is sooooo good. YOu feel like a queen being served. I wore capris. My husband wore his nice shorts and a nice shirt most nights. I promise. Nobody cares what you wear. Even on the dressy night. One of our bunch had on a tux, some had a suite on, one had a carribean shirt and dress pants. You don't worry about the dressing part. Wear what you want. I think the dress up is mostly for pictures. If you aren't taking dress up night pictures, you can dress up or down. Just HAVE FUN. That is what Carnival is all about.

thanks all for making me feel relieved. recently my mouth has taken over my body and my wardrobe is down to my "fat" clothes. i told my husband i didn't want to get dressed up, but the truth is none of my dressy clothes fit anymore. i'm hoping to loose weight..but if not i'm ok now.
every morning i wake up with the skinny me saying today is the day.........you can do it. by the end of the night i've shut that skinny me up.......by feeding her.
thanks again

Welcome to the club on the mouth overriding the skinny gene!! I am certain my body came with one, I just haven't seen it yet! The one thing I have figured out in my advancing years, is that I am more the norm than the exception. And guess what, those "norm" people cruise alot!! Yeah for us!! So, lets all relax and enjoy our vacation. I will if you will? After all, fun is what we do best!!
