Why is it more expensive to cruise from Galveston that Miami?

Why do you think its more expensive to cruise from everywhere else other than Galveston, Texas? It just "dawned on me" that I could fly to Florida, or California and go cheaper than just driving to Galveston Texas and cruise only. Hmmmmm. I wonder if Texas charges the cruise lines more or something. Does anyone know? Just curious. Not a big deal per say. Just "a wonder-in"

Just a guess here, but it might have to do with supply and demand. More ships out of Florida with more competition for the same ports.

Someone else may have better insight than that though.
