I am booked on a cruise that was put together by a friend of mine and is considered a "group" rate cruise. I am wondering because there are so many of us, and even though we got a great deal but we did book extremely early, is there a chance to still get an upgrade on cabins? Would I be able to call the cruiseline with my cruise confirmation number? (or whatever I am given)

If this was booked with Carnival under the groups department, then you would have to have the group number. The best thing to do is contact your friend and find out who the travel agent is. Ususally in groups a certain allotment of cabins are assigned..usually as a guaranteed cabin..no assignemt, unless one is specifically requested and then it would be for the price you paid..such as a 4A guarantee..then you would be assigned a 4A cabin after you pay the full deposit. I work a lot of groups and find that the earlier the group is set up the more chances my clients get upgraded. For example..pay for a guaranteed 4A they might end up in a 4D or higher if its a newer ship. I have never had anyone upgraded from say a 4A to a 6A or 8A, you will stay within the catagory you originally requested. If you want to move from inside to outside or balcony, then contact the person who set up the group and you will have to pay the difference.

we're booked as a group on Carnival Liberty on Sept. 1. So you're saying we probably won't be upgraded to an outside from an inside? THis is an extremely good price ($575)for an inside on an 8day cruise, and we have no chance to get upgraded to at least an outside so they can resell the cheaper cabins?

Carnival usually upgrades within the same catagory. If you really want to be upgraded to an oceanview or balacony then check with your group leader and see how much it would cost to up grade to the catagory you want.
