Does anyone make special friends on your cruise and keep in touch over the years or just say goodbye at the dock? Would like to know your most memorable new friend you met. This last cruise out of L.A. we met two actors (go figure with Hollywood there) It was so much fun and we sent each other our cruise DVD of the Pride. He was on Star Trek as well as many many others. She was on General Hospital and other movies. Never know who your sitting next to until the conversations begin.

We've met lots of nice people on board, kept in touch with lots via email, and sadly said good-bye to lots at the dock. It always feels like you're leaving family to me, and I never want to go home at the end of the cruise. The only thing that keeps me going is booking my next cruise.
On my 10/05 NCLAmerica cruise to Hawaii, I met two couples. Since most of the passengers were over 70, the 5 of use just sort of grouped up. One of the woman I became very close email friends with and we plan to meet up in Las Vegas in a few months to have a girls-holiday.
That is about the only friendship that has survived the time and distance once the cruise over only but it is a treasured friendship.

When DH and I went on our honeymoon cruise back in 1992 to Mexico on the Viking Serenade, we met a couple in San Diego at the zoo - which was one of the excursions at the time. The couple happened to be on the same cruise, they were the same ages as we were, got married the same day, DH's name's were the same....and lived 10 minutes from us back home-yet we didn't know each other before. We became instant friends and hung out together for the rest of the cruise. They extended their trip when we got back to LA and enjoyed Disneyland with us. We remained friends for many years and saw each other through the birth of many children! You never know what will happen when you turn around and just say HELLO!

This June will be the first cruise for my DH and I, hope we meet some nice people Maybe Johnny Depp will be on this cruise ...just wishful thinking!
BTW baby doll, I won't say names as you didn't, but I was a BIG fan of General Hospital and I think I know who you are talking about...sounds like she and her hubby were as nice as you would expect them to be.
Michele that was an awesome story. Like you penny when I see the pictures I fondly remember those I met and left at the doc. IB I like your solo cruzin by design..pretty cool. After my divorce that was so hard and always felt I was walking around with a big ol L on my forehead for everyone to see until I learned I was single by choice and not a loser with a capital L. You bet snoop girl and just a cruiser like us enjoying the trip.

We have met some very nice people while cruising. We shared a table at our dinner seating with a divorced gentleman traveling alone with his daughter five years back. He worked across from Madison Square Garden. When my husband is there on business he stops in to say hi. Our daughters have also remained friends. Another family, who were our dinner companions, from Massachusetts, we still keep in touch with as well. For the most part, my youngest daughter is the social butterfly and she regularly chats on the internet to four girlfriends she met while cruising. A'ndrea
We've met many nice people on our cruises, but never anything that carried on beyond the debarkation. Of course, we recently cruised with tncruiseman and his family but then we sort of knew each other from this forum. And we have cruised with others that we met in other forums, but in those cases it was adios when the cruise ended.
I keep in touch with a few that I have met on my cruises.
Dawn from 2004 she scheduled a cruise the same time as me again in 2005,
Melissa from 2003 we email back and forth.
just spent a nice weekend with Pam from January 2007 a few weeks ago. shes 2 hours away.
yes there are many good friends to be found while cruiseing.
and some are "Keepers"
