Been on 8 cruises. First one was Tropicale in 1988. Decided I wanted to go on one of the old boats for a bit of nostalgia. Looking forward to it. Carnival was REALLY wheeling and dealing! I figure the one thing Carnival is GREAT at is their consistancy. So if the food is great on one ship, it should be great everywhere. Looking forward. Anyone else going to? Do they do a talent show anymore...or that lame LEGENDS show only. Let me know.

PA Steve,

You'll love the Holiday. We just returned from her and she is in great condition with great food and service.

Dave,

After reading your posts live from the holiday a few weeks back, I have been investigating that ship for a future cruise. I have not cruised on an older ship, and your reviews were just great, thought this sounded like just the ship. Tell me, what time of year do you find ideal to cruise? We have always cruised spring break time (march & april), and have never been disapointed...any advice on travel time??

Our recent Holiday cruise was also spring break time. Our usual time is June or July because of school. Actually some of the best cruises we've taken were in the fall - October specifically.

We are leaving for a cruise on the Holiday in 2 days to celebrate our 1st Anniversary which will be on Easter Sunday.

Quick Question - What is a good time to arrive at the Port of Mobile? I know the brochures state that embarking starts at 1:30 p.m. and has to be finished by 3:00 p.m. We are only a couple of hours away from Mobile and I would like to get settled in and have lunch before 1:30. I read a couple of reviews where cruisers have been on board by 11:30 a.m. Is this information accurate?

Try to get there around noon or so. They will be boarding by then and you should be aboard in 30 minutes or so.

Thanks Dave.

Good advice Dave. Tifgar, Carnival will ALWAYS tell you no boarding until 1:30...and I've never been on a boat later than noon! You have to consider the first day your first cruise day...because the last day they are going to feed you and throw you off! So the day you board is the first day of your cruise...get on the boat and enjoy it!! And Dave, thanks for the words about Holiday. Really looking forward to it. Just got back from NCL Sun and am looking forward to getting back on Carnival. NCL just isn't in the same class!!
