My group will arrive in San Juan at mid day on the day before boarding the Victory. We are staying near to Condado Beach and hope to hit the beach and surf.

Our hope for departure is that we will be able to drop off luggage, sign in, board the ship to check dinner seating etc. and then to go back ashore to tour Old San Juan, getting back in plenty of time to sail.

Does this sound feasible what with security the way it is these days? Or should we just drop off our luggage and do old San Juan?

It should be very doable. You'll have your sail and sign card, which will have your photograph on it (in the mag strip). That and your picture id should be fine to get back on the ship. Have a fantastic cruise!

That is our plan for the same cruise. They should let you board around noon to 1PM on departure say. Board the ship, get yourself settled and then get off the ship for a tour of the old San Juan area (which is right there anyway) and then be back on the ship by 8PM or so... The ship does not leave San Juan until 10PM, you should have plenty of time to do that.

Hi Bill, It is totally doable as Penny and Jim said. This will be no problem at all. I did the same thing several years ago. Once you are checked in and get your Sail & Sign card, that and your Government issued Picture ID is all that is needed to re-board.

I just got off the Victory. We did exactly what you're planning to do. We turned in our luggage, checked in, and sat down to wait to embark. Because the prior passengers were late debarking, we finally got up and explored Old San Juan and were back on the ship by 3 or so. After dinner (which was open seating embarkation day), we had enough time to get off the ship and explore a little more.

A lot of passengers did that, by the way. You just have to be back on board by 9 PM for muster drill.
