I am planning on taking a five day W. Caribbean cruise onboard Carnival's Inspiration. It will be in the second week of October.

I was walking through my local mall where I live (in Orlando,FLA) when I spoted a Kiosk in the middle of the hallway. It had 12' replica of Carnival's trademark blue and red finned smokestake, several interactive video monitors, brochures galore and a friendly staff. The name of the place was called "The Carnival Vacation Store". It was nice enough, and looked ligitimate. It seems like a place owned by Carnival Cruise Lines, or is it? If not, is it an authorized travel agent of Carnival?

Anyway, I would like to know these things before I can trust them with my money. I tried looking for a list of authorized Carnival travel agents on Carnival's website, but to no avail (at least I did not find The Carnival Vacation Store listed there). Is there anyway or anywhere else I can find out?

I have been on Carnival twice this year. Used the same person each time. I didn't notice much price difference and received excellent service. I won't book with anyone else
Her email is amontalvo@Carnival.com
Hope this helps...and enjoy

Frase, most all travel agents are authorized to sell Carnival Cruises. If you are not comfortable purchasing from a kiosk in a mall, then I would look in your local phone book for local travel agents. Call a couple different agencies, talk to them and see which one you are comfortable with, ask for recommendations from friends and family, then book with the one you feel the most comfortable with. If you are uncomfortable giving your money to them, then use a credit card. This way you are protected if you feel something is not right. A local travel agent is the best way to go.

I went surfing around the Internet and found the answer to this question of mine. I discovered that this "Carnival Vacation Store" Kiosk in my local mall (in Orlando) IS CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE ITSELF. I found out that Carnival Cruise Line is trying this new idea to drum-up more business. They have placed these Kiosks in a few of the busiest malls in Florida (perhaps in other malls outside FLa, too). So, I think I will go purchase my Carnival cruise at this Kiosk.

The only problem now is that I have the sales people at Carnival calling me over the phone. I called their 1-800 number and asked about the authenticity of this "Carnival Vacation Store" Kiosk at my local mall. Instead of getting an answer, I got a sales pitch. Now it seems that the sales people at Carnival are persistant enough to call me. But, I would rather deal with someone face to face than over the phone. Do Carnival sales employees work on commision?

Anyway, tommorow (Thursday, May 26th) Carnival is offering a special deal if you book a cruise with them that day. A free upgrade or something? So I will stop by this Kiosk tommorow and set-up my next cruise: aboard Carnival's Inspiration. It will be a 5-day cruise roundtrip from Tampa to Grand Cayman then Cozumel. Wish me luck.
