We are booked to sail on the ship Holiday. We have made final payment and we have heard some horrible stories about recent sailings. The toliets were not working properly, there were hardly any childrens activities, alot of people are sick, the stabilizers are not working, etc. Carnival has not offered to do anything for us. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help! If you have a good story about a recent cruise on Holiday please let me know. We are only hearing bad ones.

I can't help you because I have not sailed on the Holiday. Maybe someone else has recently.
But I can say that she is an older ship. And with any old ship there are going to be issues. Unfortunately its those issues that get the press as most people (with the exception of those on this board) only write about problems and not about the good vacations. So all those stories you have heard may make it seem like you are going to have a bad time, but don't put too much into them.

ANY cruise is going to have a group of people that have problems (real or otherwise) and who will write all kinds of nasty things as way to get "revenge" on the cruiseline. You get the same things on a land vacation, but because they are cruising, somehow people expect nothing to go wrong.

You will have a good time if you want to. Cruising is a hoot. If you experience a problem, you have 2 choices, you can do what you can about it and continue to have fun. or you can let it ruin your vacation.. its up to you. Let Carnival try to resolve any problems. If you have major problems with your cabin, ask them if they have any others open and move...

Jim

I believe the ship is in better condition now. We are booked to go out on Holiday on May 13th. We have some friends that just returned from a Holiday trip last week and said that repairs had been made, plumbing is working better, etc.. FEMA had taken use of this ship for Katrina victims and that is why there were so many problems once it set sail again in March 2006. Here's a link to a recent article:

and another:

We hope our friends are right and that "all is well"!

We had heard the same things about Sensation which just came out of FEMA service. We went on April 23 to the Bahamas and found none of the problems so many had complained about. I hope the same holds true for you on Holiday. I am hoping to take the Holiday cruise to the Yucatan in the near future.
